Skris88, it looks like your question is better placed somewhere more specific to linux + media players - this thread is specifically about VLC + Mac + UPnP problems. I'm a relative newbie, but I've tried Linux on and off every 18 months these past 10 years (and given up each time!) If anyone who knows of a distro that has all this work first time? media file to the required codec if a protocol requires a specific media codec. Now on Ubuntu 19.10 Pulseaudio Equalizer is refusing to work! VLC includes a variety of media-streaming protocols to support different. 24 hours ago that distro did not give me the option to change to a static IP address (the GUI did not show me what each field needed). On the second Samba refused to work properly so I could share a folder.

Why so many distros? On one VLC refused to work correctly. I'm now on Ubuntu 19.10 in dual boot mode and VLC worked perfectly from first go re showing all my network UPnP devices.

Make sure both the two devices are under the same network or WiFi. Since then I've dumped that distro, erased the HDD (my data is on a separate HDD), reinstalled Win10, and installed another distro. By activating the DLNA/UPnP function, you can easily access the files available on other devices via VLC.
